Established in 1969, Jawaharlal Nehru University, also called as JNU is having various schools and centers of study within its campus. It is recognized as the most renowned as well as esteemed university situated in India. There is only a single campus which is extended to an immense area i.e. 1000 acres. It is situated in an isolated area far away from commercial and residential area. Establishment of JNU was done in 1969 especially for promoting studies of Central as well as East Asia.

The number of students studying within the campus is more than 6000. The faculty members are of international-standard and the total number of these faculties associated with JNU is around 500. many students who have passed pout from JNU are today best political-leaders and social-scientists in India.

Jawaharlal Nehru University Courses Offered

JNU offers undergraduate, postgraduate as well as diploma courses. A student can earn many degrees under one roof. The (JNU) Jawaharlal Nehru University has been considered as a reckoning institute in respect of Linguistics and International studies. Courses for undergraduate is offered in only one subject i.e. Linguistics by JNU.
Post-Graduation courses which are offered by Jawaharlal Nehru University involve Sciences, International-Relationships and Humanities.

There are many schools with different centers within the campus of JNU offering different subjects. These schools have been mentioned below along with subjects it offers:

  1. School of International Studies - It offers M.A. in Economics and Politics.
  2. School of Social Studies - It includes centers for Study of Regional Goddess (MA in Geography), Economic Studies & Planning (MA in Economics), Political Studies (MA in Politics), Study of Social System (MA in Sociology), Historical Studies (MA in History).
  3. School of Languages - It has centers for French Studies, Persian and Central Asian Studies, Spanish Studies, Japanese and North-East Asian Studies, Arabic and African Studies, Indian Language, Chinese & South-East Asian Studies, German Studies, Russian Studies, Linguistics and English.
  4. School of Physical Sciences - M. Sc. in Physics.
  5. School of Environmental Science - M. Sc. in Environmental Science.
  6. School of Life Science - M. Sc. in Life Science.
  7. School of Computer & Systems Science - MCA.

Jawaharlal Nehru University Campus and Location

As JNU is establishes in an isolated area (New Delhi's southern region), it is having a serene and sound atmosphere of the academy. It covers some northern area of the Aravalli Hills.

The facilities provided by the university comprises of facilities for hostel, guest room, sports, food and medical. There are total 15 hostels. One hostel is for hostel students who are married; seven for girls, 4 hostels are for both boys and girls and rest for boys only. There are about 500 NRI students. JNU includes 8 inter-disciplinary teachings and research schools, along-with 1 specialized Bio-Technology centre. The library of JNU consists of a collection of books of about 4.5 lakh, newspaper, printed-journals & archives.
