Jawaharlal Nehru University Colleges

The Jawaharlal Nehru University is barely thirty years old inspired by ideals and values that make it stand out as an exceptionally different place of learning. It is a learning place which cherishes ideas as field of adventure, experimentation and respect for diversity of opinions.
 
When formed, the university sought to revolutionize the traditional disciples were formulated with fresh perspectives in the Indian university system. The Nehruvian ideals and objectives form the bed rock of the university's values which include national integration, social justice, secularism, the democratic way of life, international understanding and scientific approach to the problems of society.

The Jawaharlal Nehru University, the 1000 -acre campus is located on the Aravali hill range which was once rugged terrain but now a lush green expanse. Some parts of it host has forests, sustaining a varied species of birds and some forms of wild life. The Jawaharlal Nehru University colleges are not there, but instead there are Schools and institutes affiliated. The JNU campus draws students from all parts of the country and from every group and stratum of society.

This is well facilitated since the annual admission tests are simultaneously held at 37 centres spread across the length and breadth of the country, it is also ensured that students from the underprivileged castes and ethic groups are drawn by reserving 22.5 per cent of seats for them. Overseas students are also admitted and their number constitutes some 10 percent of the annual intake.

There are no colleges affiliated to Jawaharlal Nehru University. Besides class room teaching and, library and the laboratories study, it is the personal interaction between students and teachers and among students themselves form an extremely important and lively medium of generation and transmission of knowledge. The annual Students Union elections conducted entirely by students is an important event at the campus with fierce poster and cartoon wars, verbal duels and competitive yet peaceful group meetings.
