Jawaharlal Nehru University Syllabus

The University comprises ten Schools, each of which having several Centers along with four independent Special Centers. The newest school is School of Arts and Aesthetics, while the School of Biotechnology was set up in 2006 from the earlier Center for Biotechnology. The School of Computational and Integrative Sciences (earlier School of Information Technology) offers M.Tech in Computational and Systems Biology, and pre-doctorate and doctorate courses in Computational Biology and Bioinformatics. Center for Computational Biology and Bioinformatics and High Performance Computing Center are the two centres of the department.

Computer science courses are conducted under the School of Computer and Systems Sciences. Established in 1974, this school draws the largest number of applications as compared with the other schools. The only centre offering undergraduate courses is the School of Language, Literature and Culture Studies: It has several centres: the Center for Arabic and African Studies, the Center for Chinese and South East Asian Studies, the Center for French and Francophone Studies, the Center for German Studies, the Center of Indian Languages, the Center for Japanese Korean and North East Asian Studies, the Center for English Studies, the Center for Linguistics, the Center for Persian and Central Asian Studies, the Center for Russian Studies, the Center for Spanish, Portuguese, Italian & Latin American Studies. One of the oldest courses is offered by the School of Life Science, while the school of Physical Science, established in 1986 includes a faculty in Physics, in Chemistry and Mathematics. Several research areas such as include Theoretical and Experimental Condensed Matter Physics, Soft-Matter Physics, Non-equilibrium Statistical Mechanics, Quantum Field Theory, Classical and Quantum Chaos, Low Temperature Physics, Materials Science, Supramolecular Chemistry are present in the university besides extensive computational facilities with a dedicated Nonlinear Dynamics laboratory.
